Joseph Augustin 25 x 31.  “A Feast for the Spirits”. A rural community hosts a celebratory meal for the spirits; a chorus arrives to lead the society in song, supported by the traditional set of three drums. White corn meal designs on the ground represent the spirits who have been specifically invited for the feast, including the Virgin Mary. The participants party in the courtyard. Joseph Augustin is an Artibonite painter who was born in 1970, and sold his first piece at the age of 18. He paints detailed images of countrysides and community life.
